While we await more reviews submission - Here's another tip posted on a forum recently :
"Hotel Marriott o'hare. Its just 0.02 miles (2 mins walking distance) frm the center. Its a nice hotel and not too expensive either. They have their own shuttle from airport to hotel every 15-20 mins. If you go through the USMLE.org website - they offer an examinee discount too"

Yeah, I checked this recommendation out and this is what I found: Mariott does not currently offer any discount even if you go thru the usmle website...the cheapest they have is $209 for a night...and thats realllllllly expensive...any other hotels you know about??
Thanks!
Ok, looks like NOBODY'S going to Chicago anymore to take the CS (kinda surprising, since there were indeed 23 other docs with me during mine..) Anyways, getting over the sarcasm, I stayed at the Ramada Plaza (the one listed as Clarion on the USMLE website)..and I would recommend that hotel to everyone who has to take the test in the morning session, ...the hotel is slightly pricey compared to what you might find in downtown Chicago, but remember, downtown is precisely 19.9997 miles (ok, 20) from the center, and if you are a freak like me, I stronglyu advise you not to travel so long in the morning, though the CTA is pretty good. Anyways, getting back to the hotel, it cost me a cool $ 75 for a 1 night stay (almost wrote "stand" here...its all in my nerdy mind, I guess)...but the room and service were excellent, and they even dropped me off and picked me up from the center, though I had not requested it...guess thats what blew me off...but anyways, the hotel is withing a 10 min walk from the center...so no sweat...and its very conveniently located near the CTA bus and subway ..so thats a big plus.
Btw, you will have to call the hotel for the discount...regular price is a not-cool $ 150..so its like a 50 % discount..so dude..make that call and mention your exam ..call 773-693-5800 ( I swear I am not being paid by the hotel to post this here..am just being good, ok!)
Anyways, hope this helps somebody...
you might like to check CTA website if you plan to use public transport....esp if you are travelling to chicago by amtrak..
If you plan to fly to chicago or use the greyhound(!)...you dont need the CTA..both the airport (O'Hare) and the greyhound terminal are very close to the hotel...
whew!..thats it...if i missed anything...dude..go figure! this aint yr mommy....
well ... i am gonna take this csa exam on july 7 2006 in chicago centre .... i made a reservation of 2 nights ( as it is a pm session ) n i paid 75$ + tax which equals to 86$ i guess ... there is a free complimentary shuttle from O`hare int airport .. u can get it from baggage claim section .. just follow the blue n red arrows n get it from door # 2 ... for getting the CS discount u have to tell over the fone that u need a CS applicant discount rate ,, good luck for all ... will contribute my experience after i take my exam :)
oh well ... i`m done wid my exam... still waiting for the results.. hopefully they will be good ... ummm the hotel .. i stayed in was ramada inn .. fair service ... free shuttle from the airport every 30 min ( according to them ) i guess it is every 45 min ... a desi guy stands some times on the reception .. well he helped me a lot .. as i lost my baggage .. helped me getting my permit thru fax ... room service too expensive ... blue line very near walking distance wchich connects the suberbs to the city ... wat else u need ? any ques just e mail me .. oh yes there were no red n blue arrows on the airport @ least i didn`t get them as i told above in my post ... g/l to all
Thanks for all the excellent input guys !!!
Does any body know anything about the Wyndham hotel?
thanx4 the info!!it was of immense help :)
Try wyndham garden o'hare,...its 2 blocks from the centre(they shuttle u anyway), shuttle from the airport,...rooms decent, good service,breakfast,...i had a morn session and wasnt hassled by chicago traffic,...just got up at 7am and reached the centre by 7.45. The name has chnged a couple of times,...google it and u'll get a better deal on hotel booking sites (80$) than directly(90$ incld student discnt),....u can get a cheaper place 7-10 miles away,..but they wont shuttle u to the centre and u wil get the service what u pay for,....
gave the cs in chicago in december ... stayed in garden inn , very close to the centre , infact , only one block , 5 min.walk only
shuttle service every 30 min from airport to hotel and that will also take u to the center in the morning if you tell them beforehand ... also very close to the airport
not all expensive .. decent rooms , come on you have come to give an exam , not for a holiday ...
recommend to all img like me
I took my CS in July 2009 in Chicago. I stayed in Chicago O’Hare Garden Hotel. It is just 6-7 minutes walking distance away from the test center. They give you free airport shuttle to pick you up and drop you every 30 minutes, though you may have to give them a call once you land at the O'Hare airport to pick you up. They have a free wireless internet connection available in the lobby and free breakfast. Most importantly, the room is very good (with iron and iron stand!) and the fares are minimal. I was able to get a King sized bedroom in just 40 dollars and a few cents, with all tax included! I paid almost a week before my trip through www.expedia.com.
One friend stayed in Marriott and paid over 180 dollars for one night!
